Arsenal Vs Chelsea Match: Preview

After Man City dispatched Arsenal in a nine-goal thriller last weekend, the big games keep on coming with a London showdown between Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger.

The game comes at a tricky – and thus crucial – time for both teams. Chelsea were dumped out of the League Cup by Sunderland in midweek which has dampened the team spirit before the weekend fixture.

Meanwhile, two back to back losses have left Arsenal in a hanging position where they can be easily moved off the top spot by Chelsea if they lose the week 17 fixture. Arsenal looked jaded from their midweek excursion in Europe. Their relatively small squad has clearly not helped in that regard, with Olivier Giroud particularly appearing to show the strain of carrying the workload up front.

Michael Essien is suspended for Chelsea while Ryan Bertrand and Marco van Ginkel are out injured. Arsenal are waiting for news on Laurent Koscielny’s gash, while Jack Wilshere misses two games after an obscene gesture made at fans.
