Bengaluru Goes Down Fighting


East Bengal played Bengaluru in a round 15 Airtel I-League clash at the Bangalore Football Stadium. Goals from James Moga and Edeh Chidi earned valuable three points for Armando Colaco.


The visitors, thus, repeated their 2-0 home win against Bengaluru FC who crashed to their first defeat in eight games at the Bangalore Football Stadium.


The match got off to an expected start with both teams looking to outshine each other. The game was full of life and in the 17th minute James Moga found the back of the net from a Raju Gaekwad pass to give East Bengal the lead.


The visitors doubled their lead towards the end of the game when Edeh Chidi blasted a shot into the top half of the goal from an odd angle. The closest the home side came to scoring was in the 26th minute, when Sean Rooney’s header came off the post to deny Bengaluru an equaliser.


While Bengaluru FC remain on 27 points from 14 outings, East Bengal picked up three crucial points for their fifth win and moved to 18 from 16 matches.
